Well, I haven't written much for a while. Life can get kind of hectic with a little one hugging your knees.
I thought I would write today about my coffee maker. I don't like my coffee maker. I live in an apartment and, although I have a practically new kitchen, there is not a lot of counter space. The coffee maker takes up a lot of counter space. And that annoys me.
I was out yesterday and managed to find a lovely glass French press. It is big enough to make two very large mugs of coffee, and small enough to hide in a cabinet. I found it at a garage sale and I only paid a dollar for it. So, this morning I found some directions to brew coffee with a French press and I was very impressed.
The coffee tasted much different than the same coffee made with a drip machine. It tasted much more like coffee house coffee. I must say that I really enjoyed my cup of coffee this morning.
In fact I was so excited about my coffee that this evening I decided that I must have biscotti with my coffee in the morning. So I am in the process if baking some biscotti.
Biscotti is fairly easy to make and I am trying out a new recipe that I found on Food Network. So far it looks quite promising.

When was the last time...

When was the last time you received a letter? A real letter; Not an email, not a bill, not an envelope proclaiming that you may have already won 500,000 dollars. I mean a real letter. The kind where someone took the time to sit down and write down what they were thinking and feeling at the time.
We hear all the time how impersonal our society is getting. We order things online. We do not need a checker to check us out at the grocery store. We can drive through almost anywhere and have very little contact with our fellow human on the other side of the wall. I don't mean to imply that these things are bad. They are a product of our society where nobody has enough time to get everything done and still have time for themselves.
Because we live in such a fast paced world I think it means more when somebody stops to write a letter. It doesn't have to be eloquent. It doesn't have to be perfect. When you take the time out to write a letter you are saying to the recipient, if not in words, I love you and I care about you. You are worthy my time.
The last letter I have received was from my dear husband. He was away in boot camp and was not allowed telephone privileges very often. I received a letter from him every Thursday. Oh, how I looked forward to his letters! After graduating and he was allowed to use the telephone again I received calls, but nothing was quite so special as when I would open the mailbox and saw a letter addressed to me. I admit that I have saved every one.
Write a letter today to let someone you love know that you are thinking of them. Maybe to your friend from college or someone you haven't seen as often as you would like to is on your mind. Perhaps it is a sister or brother. Imagine how much they will love to hear from you!
Well, I am off to write my best friend a card now. Have a sweet day and thank you for reading!

Something Special About Spring

Well, it looks as if Sping is finally here. I guess I cannot complain too much about this winter, as it has been a mild one with no huge blizzards of which to speak.
If I had to choose a favorite thing about this season I don't think I could. It is such a beautiful time of year. Such a sensory experiance. There is just something special about Spring. The way the earth smells after one of those infamous April showers. I love the scent of daffodils and the way the earth just comes alive again. It is very inspirational. It makes me want to go out and walk in the woods or dig in the dirt.
I love the colors of Spring as well. The vibrant hues of green and the yellow daffodils and pink tulips set off by the dark, moist earth. So beautiful.
There is new life popping up all around, from baby birds to bunnies, spring calves to peeps (In case you could not tell I live in the country).

Welcome
